These brightly coloured metallic beetles can be seen on flower heads searching and feeding on small insects, there is another species, very similar to this one named L. moesta, which is darker and not as metallic. They are most often seen in Spring and Fall when they appear on Dandelions, Thistles and other low-growing plants. The lustre is fairly variable and it can be from blue to a bluish-green to turquoise.
